why knot?

I’m a self-taught knitter. My grandma was a very fine knitter but back then I wasn’t smart enough to learn from her. I’m sure she would have passed me so many amazing knowledges. Oh well…I started my journey on my own. In the beginning I’ve made many things for friends and family which I didn’t even bother to take pictures of. I recently decided it was time to take it to the next level. Have a more defined project, documented and put it out in the world. It's a slow process, very interesting and exciting, sometimes (many times) very frustrating but every day there is something new to learn. Knitting helped me over come many very much difficult times. The healing and magic power of knitting it is blessing to be discovered. I love it. It surely is my happy place.

All my garments are made with 100% natural yarn. I often work with scrap, recycled and remaining stock yarn and fabric. But my favorite thing is to upcycle old sweater’s yarn. Even then I always make sure to maintain the same high quality level of material.

number one sweater, 2014

In 2014 the family that lived next door moved out. The mom was a seamstress and of course, as all the women of that age, a knitter! She left us all her knitting supplies and many bags of yarn. So many little skeins of scrap yarn. What to do with it? My brother and I took half of it each and we both made a sweater using all this remaining yarn, knot all together. Mine reminds me of something prehistoric, like The Croods :) …so here it is… the Croodsweater!

This year I’ve attended the amazing Sweater Design School by Sister Mountain, to learn how to write in multiple sizes my knitting patterns. I haven’t knitted so much but studied a lot!!
